Slum Village

Slum Village is a legacy Hip Hop group from Detroit. Former members of the group include Elzhi, Black Milk, Illa J, and the notoriously influential producer J Dilla, who had a profound impact on Hip Hop culture before his passing over 10 years ago. The group has accomplished a lot in the industry since its inception in 1990, and is still very active today. From numerous Billboard charting albums, to Grammy nominations, to major Film/TV placements, to world tours, to collaborations with artists such as A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, Kanye West, Jazzy Jeff, Pete Rock, and more. For the culture, Slum Village has had a severe impact on Hip Hop music, and is revered as a pioneer outfit by modern and heritage Hip Hop lovers alike.

Tinderbox Music provided radio support for Slum Village’s The Lost Scrolls Tour in the summer of 2018. A variety of interviews, in-studio performances, and on-air ticket giveaways were obtained on stations such as KCRW (Los Angeles), KZGO (Minneapolis), Vocalo (Chicago), and more.

Tinderbox Music has also promoted two solo releases from Young RJ (of Slum Village) to the non-commercial radio market. “Blaq RoyalT” in 2017, and “The Detroit Project” in 2018, both of which peaked at #1 on the NACC Hip Hop Chart during their respective promotional campaigns.
