Some of our clients include local artists Jeremy Messersmith, Ecid, The Chalice, The Honeydogs, Doomtree, Chris Koza, Dessa, Storyhill, Halloween, Alaska, Fathom Lane, Verskotzi, Mictlan, Mike + Lazerbeak, Korda Records, The Farewell Circuit, GRRRL PRTY, and The New Standards, Lizzo as well as national artists such as Grieves, Mackintosh Braun, Imagine Dragons, Sadistik, Roger Clyne & the Peacemakers, Faded Paper Figures, Dan Wilson, Twentyone Pilots, Meat Puppets, Bad Plus, and Ingrid Michaelson.

Tinderbox Music is looking for interns to help with the radio promotions department.

Function of Program:
Tinderbox Music has developed an educational internship program designed to give students an opportunity to receive hands on experience in college radio. During this internship the student will learn about the pursuit of radio airplay, how we track our clients’ music though CMJ (College Music Journal), and day-to-day operations of an independent music company.

Description of Responsibilities:
Main duties include recording all radio tracking information to their proper tracking reports, collating artist radio kits and helping with radio kit assemblies, assisting in answering incoming calls, and occasionally office upkeep, which includes light house cleaning, bringing out the trash and recycling.  Interns may sometimes be involved in contacting music directors at college radio stations around the country in order to promote and track airplay for artists on the Tinderbox roster. Occasional assistance may be needed in other Tinderbox departments such as assisting our licensing or press departments, making trips to the post office or going to pick up Tinderbox office supplies.

Duties may vary depending on previous experience and job performance.

Expectations of Intern:
We require that interns have excellent phone skills, a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, good written skills, and attention to detail.  An insatiable passion for music and a sense of humor also helps. Previous music business experience is a huge plus, but your work ethic and interview will be the deciding factors.

Hours:
15-20 hours per week

Duration of Internship:
Typically 4 Months.  Although applications are accepted year round, we try to schedule internships into 4-month sessions from September through December, January through April, and May through August.  We do offer shorter January term internships (typically full time, 30-35 hours per week) for school credit as well as 3-month summer internships coinciding with school schedules.

Compensation:
Tinderbox internships are unpaid (that’s where that “passion for music” thing comes into play), but they do include occasional perks such as free CDs and access to concerts in the area.  College credit may be earned depending on specific school requirements.

Application Procedure:
Email a cover letter and resume to Brandon Day our Director of College Radio. Please FOLLOW UP with a phone call to set up an interview.
